I wasn’t going to post today as I’m working on my Masterpiece scrapbook (photos in a later post), but I have started a new knitting project that I just wanted to share. For years I have been wearing three fleece tops (no, not all at the same time) that I bought in New Hampshire. Sadly, I’ve recently noticed that they are going bald… yes I have actually worn them out! So, I thought that I would knit myself a lovely warm hoody out of British yarn. I selected Jacob wool from Blacker yarns and one of their patterns that uses two strands of wool together to give a tweed effect. I’m really pleased with it so far:
Light grey and cream strands knitted together for warmth and a nice mottled effect

/ January 15, 2014I’m really taken by the Jacob wool. The sheep naturally produce more than one colour, so it’s nice to combine them once more when knitting.

/ January 15, 2014I’m currently teaching Jon to knit as he really wants to contribute to the blanket, but I had honestly forgotten how hard it is to start with. My mum taught me when I was about 10 so it’s a long time ago and I don’t think I have ever taught anyone to knit in all that time. I’m just glad I can do it. However, having said that, I did teach myself to crochet just over a year ago, so it’s never too late!

I went to a party not long ago where I met an old school colleague who asked me what I was doing these days. I gave him a run down of my current occupation and he responded with ‘So you’re retired then?’. Not laughed so much, nor felt so out of place at a party, for a long time 🙂

/ January 16, 2014I love Jacob sheep and used to have some in my paddock. They belonged to a friend and they all had lovely names. I love the mottled effect of this special wool and I think you will have such a special hoodie.
