As it’s Valentine’s day, I thought that I would celebrate love… in particular all the love that is coming my way in the form of friendship squares. This morning I was particularly touched to receive a snail-themed square from my wonderful blogging friend ‘Young at Fifty’ (Things I want to create before wrinkles overwhelm me). In the accompanying letter, she says that her square is “a small contribution to a sustained friendship” – how lovely is that? As this is a slightly larger square than most of the others, I am planning to add a wide border to it decorated with flowers that will mark its arrival on Valentines day (you may not be aware that I hate cut flowers… but I love crochet ones).
As for the others that have been arriving steadily, I have spent most evenings this week putting borders on them. So that I now have a whole load that need to be stitched into the blanket. Up until now, most of my sewing has been done whilst watching (well, mostly listening to) the 6 Nations Rugby on the TV, but there is no rugby this week, so I will have to find a film or two to (not) watch.
Once again, sincere thanks and much love to all of you who have contributed or who are planning to contribute… if you don’t see your square below, that’s because I haven’t edged all of those that have arrived yet.

/ February 14, 2014You’re getting close to having a finished Masterpiece now, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the final result. I feel quite disproportionate excitement at seeing ‘my’ square ready to join the others! Hope MSOH was successful and the greenhouse survived…

/ February 14, 2014Greenhouse still standing, although one of the panels (they are plastic as we daren’t risk glass) is bent and will have to be replaced.
Just heard on the forecast that this may be the last big storm for a while… we may be able to breathe a sigh of relief next week.

/ February 14, 2014How sensible. I had visions of him trying to hold the thing together surrounded by shards of flying glass. It’s been a black year for bad weather, hasn’t it? Hope the forecast is accurate for once.

/ February 14, 2014Happy to be part of a masterpiece 🙂 I had this lurking discomfort that my square turned out way too big. Basically in my enthusiasm to make space for the snail, I lost sight of the size you required. I am sorry this means more work for you although I think adding a few flowers is a great idea. Cant wait to see the end product and others’ contributions too.
