I want some additional embellishments for the Masterpiece, so today I have been playing around with flowers. They are great for using up scraps of yarn. I think my favourites are the roses because they can be varied by stitching them together more or less tightly, but I’m rather fond of that pale yellow daisy (not so much the darker one).

I have to confess, though, that the title of this post is a bit of a lie because it isn’t currently raining in west Wales. In fact today we have only had 7mm of rain so far!

A friend of mine told me that they attached yarn flowers to bare trees in the wintertime to liven things up. I thought it was a pretty neat idea hehe.

Not to gloat or anything, but please could we have our rain back, there’s a bit too much sun going on here, and our monsoon front appears to have moved to the northern hemisphere. My vote goes to the tighter lilac rose at bottom right. I like it because it’s neat and less floppy than the others, but that’s a personal preference! Looking forward to The Big Gloat, when you post the finished thing!

So your ‘Wet’ is lacking moisture? Our forecast says no more rain until tomorrow evening… woohoo! Perhaps you are due some for 24 hours?

/ February 15, 2014The forecast says showers today and tomorrow, thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday, and then showers again. Trouble is, the farmer need more than showers. They need a few days of sustained heavy rain at least. It’s not going to be a good year for them…

/ February 16, 2014Fortunately here in Wales have been wet but not flooded… but other parts of the UK are a different matter. Our recently installed home weather station tells us that it hasn’t rained now for more than 24 hours… which may be a record for 2014 so far!!
