Super snail!

Exactly a week ago, a lovely snail square arrived from ‘Young at Fifty‘. However, in order to include all the elements, she’d had to make the square a bit bigger than the standard ones for the Masterpiece. Over the past week, therefore, I’ve been working on creating a special part of the blanket.

I made some flowers (you may have seen some of these before):

An abundance of flowers

I crocheted a wide border around the square, so that it’s the size of four of the standard ones:

A big square

And, once it’s stitched into the blanket, I will decorate it with some of the flowers:

It will end up looking something like this

It will end up looking something like this

What do you think? I’m really pleased with it.

I love her work and I particularly like her snail. It is so expressive and the flowers around it look great. I am sure she will be very happy with what you have done with it. 🙂

  4. Flowers have an important place in permaculture, and I see you’ve been raising a healthy crop of them! It’s looking very formal, though, I’ve never seen a permaculture garden that didn’t sprawl in all sorts of interesting directions…

  5. Fantastic! I’m also struggling with making my square the appropriate size…it really wants to be 7″ by 7″. I will continue to try to make it submit to my will. 😉

    • You really inspired me… all my focus was on joining squares until your snail arrived, and then I thought – what can I do with this? And the border and flowers just followed on. I’ve now made some leaves too and I shall embroider stems to give the snail a real garden to live in. Thank you, again!
