As well as getting rid of extraneous ‘stuff’ from around the house, I’m also trying to be more organised with the stuff that I do want to keep. This is a real challenge for me because I am just naturally untidy (I wish I wasn’t). Since I always have numerous craft projects on the go, I decided to start making project bags in which to keep them – each one neat and tidy and separate from the others. This also gives me an excuse to make yet more things! Here is my first completed one, containing the, as yet unfinished, hoodie in Jacobs wool (I’ve sort of lost the incentive to finish it quickly now the weather is warmer):
I adapted Lucy’s Jolly Chunky Bag pattern (Attic24) to make it the size I wanted and used New Lankark aran weight wool.
I photographed the bag last night with a chair as a backdrop and I was surprised to find Max underneath. I wonder if he felt he’d had a hard day:
In case you are wondering the wine is Cheverny – it’s French and very good.

/ May 31, 2014Max certainly has the appearance of having sampled the wine… unlikely, I know, that he’d have got a look in! Jolly nice Jolly Bag.

I really liked the idea of using buttons for the centre of the flowers, especially since I had some ones that were just right in my button box

/ May 31, 2014I think the buttons really finish it off. I love buttons and have a massive collection. I think I have loved then since I played with the ones in my Grandma’s button tin, as a child, all those years ago.

/ May 31, 2014I’ve been gathering patterns for bags for an age now, while toying with the idea of making some as work bags and, of course, other projects got in the way! But, seeing your lovely new work bag, I really must sort through my patterns and try it out myself – and use up some of my scrap yarn at the same time! Lol

Talking of scraps – I’ve made you another square, out of the scraps from the parcel of yarn my mum sent to me – if you’d still like any more for your wonderful blanket? 🙂

/ June 1, 2014I’ve been buying the square fold-up Safeway shopping bags and using them as project bags. I also have some trays with sewing bits and bobs, plus the fabrics for projects. But I like your idea: use some of the stuff to make containers for the rest of the stuff . . . love your bag and your pup! ~ Linne (and no, my square is not yet done . . . but it will be)
