Ta-dah!

HURRAH! In the past few days I’ve received the paperwork confirming that I have passed my Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design and I’ve completed my masterpiece blanket, which illustrates my diploma journey.

I promise that I will now update the masterpiece pages here on the blog and on Pinterest. I also plan to create a more user-friendly way of looking at all the squares and reading their stories… watch this space!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the blanket – yarn, squares, support, ideas – without you all it wouldn’t have been possible.

  3. It’s huge! I hope it doesn’t weigh a ton on the bed. I love the idea of you sleeping under a wealth of creativity and good wishes, though. Congratulations, well done on both fronts. Now, what are you going to get us to make next…?

    • Thank you! Half of the squares in the blanket were made for me by my blog followers, friends, family and other diploma apprentices, so it s a truly collaborative effort and wouldn’t have been possible without all those amazingly generous people 🙂

  10. Wow, what a ……..well, masterpiece, it’s beautiful, it’s come together wonderfully. Congratulations on both your successful finishes. I’m looking forward to hearing more about your Tree of Life, I’d like to do something before I go away at the end of the month if possible, any thoughts yet on the finished size of Tree, that would give me a starting point.?

    • I keep looking at your lovely row of sunflowers in the blanket… they really make me smile!
The tree of life is going to be on a single bed blanket and will include trees and roots. I should think that leaves, flowers and animals between a couple of inches and five inches would be ideal. I am planning to make some crochet flowers about three inches across.
Thank you so much for offering to contribute to another project 🙂

      • Thanks for this, now I know what size I can start “something”. And if you’re wanting to ‘pay it forward’ I have an ongoing project where I’m making and collecting squares, between 6 and 8 inches, not knitted though, fabric. I’d love it if you’d like to contribute Jan. We could email if you’d like to know more.

  11. WOW! That is breath-taking! I remember seeing from time to time comments on blogs we both follow about squares being ready to send, sent or ‘sorry I’m so late sending my square’ notes – and my interest was piqued. What you have is amazing – this is truly an heirloom blanket! You must be so happy with it and feel so supported in your being and your work. Congratulations you have birthed a collaborative creation of great beauty – and use! I am totally in awe ❤ ❤ ❤

  16. Let me know when you are making your next international jobby and narf will be there with a square for you :). I see Ms Teddy/Totties gorgeous Bavarian square and so many others. I particularly love the “L” plate one and the snail. How could it not have a snail or two? ;). More congratulations and praise heaped on top of everyone else here’s praise and congratulations and you deserve it because we can never have enough permaculturalists in the world 🙂

    • The L-plate probably took the longest on any square to make – it was Mr Snail’s contribution and he learned to knit in order to make it. I suspect it’s going to be the only thing he ever knits!
And, in fact, there’s another snail up at the top left that’s not so obvious.
