D is for…

… my 500th post!

Someone make a cake – we need to celebrate. Actually I should make a cake as all four chickens are in lay and so there are plenty of eggs.

I thought I would mark it with a list. So, D is for:

Dogs… lots of my posts mention them. They are my constant companions, encouraging me to go out for a walk and testing out all my knitted and crochet items.

Darning… oh how I hate it, but still it’s a good way to make things last so I do it anyway.

Digging… especially keen on unearthing all those lovely potatoes from the garden.

Dani… and a host of other bloggers who inspire me.

Denmark Farm… where we conserve biodiversity and support community projects.

Dangler… and all the other ‘friendship’ projects that I have been part of in the blogosphere

Dad… I lost my dad nearly a year ago. Not a day goes by when I don’t think about him… and I’m still using the cork board he made for me all those years ago (it often appears in posts)

Dark evenings… spent with hook or needles to create lovely woolly things.

Dairy… even though I’m lactose intolerant, I’m busy making cheese.

Dyson… thanks to secondhand spares from ebay, it’s been mended twice in the past three years.

Diploma… my Diploma in Applied Permaculture design was the inspiration for ‘The Masterpiece‘… my amazing friendship blanket.

Dehydrating.. and my many other experiments in food preserving.

Drinking tea and coffee

… well, I could go on, but you get the idea. So, here’s to another 500 posts… thank you all for dropping by.

Just in case you are wondering what I’m wittering on about, D is the Roman numeral representing 500

  9. Many happy returns to the jovial mollusc! High Bank raises a glass to the next 500 xx

  10. I’m feeling pretty darn smart right now, since I figured out what the D meant! And pretty darn impressed with you for sticking with your commitment to the blog and us for so long! Here’s to many, many posts–M here we come!

  11. LOL shows how good my maths is. I thought you were being purposefully random in order to make sense of 500 blog posts ;). I will add my 2c (pence) in and will add “D” for “Doubt I will make it to 500 blog posts”! How impressive that you have been able to keep doing this for this long Ms Snail and your posts are never boring. Here’s to the latin mathetmatical equivalent of 1000 blog posts. NO idea what it is (C?!) but too lazy to go search Google and it’s time to walk king Earl so up off the PC and attm at the new day! (Still dark… bollocks…)

  12. Wa-hey! Congratulations! I’m so impressed at your productivity. Here’s to achieving M very soon.

  13. Congratulations on 500 excellent posts! I look forward to the many more still to come.

    • Thank you! Are you doing ok? I’m looking forward to reading what you have been up; I hope you’re not suffering too much of a culture shock!!!

      • I’m doing well! Just travelling and without much internet access or urge to write. I should have a home again in a couple more weeks (I’m moving to the big city of Melbourne) and the more settled lifestyle will be sure to get me writing again. Best wishes from Neika, Tasmania!

  14. Congrats! Every time I see a picture of the Masterpiece, I’m just riveted by its beauty. Goodness. And then there are all your other endeavors, which are so nice to read about.

  15. I’m glad you explained the D. We have friends who had a dog called DforDog. Love the crochet blanket.

  16. You are awesome, Mrs Snail – your 500th post and you mentioned little ‘ol me – so pleased my name starts with “D”. I love reading your blog and hope you have many more blogging milestones on the horizon! oxoxoxoxox

  17. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Wow! 500 is impressive. After 3 years, I’ve only posted 150. I don’t know that I’ll last long enough to do 500. You have a lot of diversity here which helps give you a broad based following. I just need more hours in the day. Anyone who posts about dogs has my vote and love your crochet. Especially the blue and white. I’m still deciding on colors for my home. Gardening is another love but I’m more into learning than offering advice since I have none. πŸ™‚ I’ll keep reading and learning from you. Now take a picture of the cake you bake so I can eat vicariously as well. πŸ™‚
