Joining with Nerd in the Brain (and others) for Three Things Thursday’. As “Nerd” says…
*three things that make me smile: an exercise in gratitude – feel free to steal this idea with wild abandon and fill your blog with the happy*
First, I’m always grateful for a surprise package through the post, and this brooch from one of my nieces was a real treat. It’s especially lovely because it was hand made by someone she works with, thus supporting a local crafter.
Second, I’m grateful for my accountant. I hate doing the accounts and every penny I spend on not having to do them seems well worth it. Particularly so this year, as his number crunching resulted in a small tax rebate… which arrived this week. Anyway, who wants to be wrestling with a tax return when you could be crocheting cute things?
Third, and perhaps most important, I’m grateful that I live somewhere where guns are uncommon and where my community includes people of different sexualities, races and beliefs all getting along fine. We may disagree, we may not all be friends, but, generally, no one seems to feel the need to impose their ideas on anyone else. I hope that no one I know feels under threat of violence or censure. I’m very lucky to have a diverse set of friends and I value the richness and depth of their differences whilst knowing that, deep down, we all have a huge amount in common. Let’s share the love and be grateful for this every day!

/ June 16, 2016I am impressed. I have settled happily into once a week. We were and by are I mean a bunch of ladies of a certain age, highly entertained by a young chap doing his life saving test today. He passed, so well done him.

/ June 16, 2016Yes, be grateful, very, that your country has a sensible attitude toward guns. So many people, in my diverse country, are so accepting of difference. And the ones who are not would not be nearly as scary or powerful, we could ignore them, if they didn’t have easy access to assault weapons. It’s a difficult time to be an American.

/ June 17, 2016Three good things indeed! I especially love your Vaark photo at the end… Vaarks really do make great spokespeople (spokesvaarks?) for diversity, don’t you think?
