As it’s Friday I thought I’d show off a few recently finished objects… I’ve been relatively quiet about crafting over the past few weeks, mainly because there’s been so much to share about food and gardening, but that does not that I’ve not been busy with my hooks and needles. I’ve made two pairs of snails – one of which has its own carry bag made out of an old pyjama leg (!) – a hedgehog (a commission which has gone to Belgium I think), a hat for my mum for her birthday, and some socks.
The hat and the colourful snail wool are both yarn that I bought from Colinette in January before they closed. The brown snail yarn is from West Yorkshire Spinners. The cream yarn used in all the snails is from The Inkpot. And the socks are knitted from Regia yarn for my swap with Kathryn.
So have you any finished objects to share… knitted, sewn, written, painted, drawn… anything creative?

/ August 12, 2016They are intended to be a subtle nod to gay pride… I was very pleased with the way they turned out. This was the first pair that I’ve done with horns to match the shell (they usually match the body) and I’m pleased with the effect.

/ August 12, 2016It is about time I stopped lurking and chimed in! I found your blog via Looby a few weeks ago :-). I am currently working through the People and Permaculture book. I home school our two youngest kids, live with a chronic illness and care for a hubby with MS and a son with type one diabetes, I knit, crochet and sew project bags and other items. I am using permaculture principles in the planning, designing and writing a curriculum for our next home school year. Since life is never straightforward at this end I am planning in seasonal chunks with an eye to changing and adapting where necessary! I currently have three fibre projects on the go a colourful striped crochet bag, one pair of socks using the newly learned continental method and a jumper.
Thanks for sharing all that you do, your blog is my happy place 🙂

I do feel for you in your role as a carer – having grown up with a severely disabled parent I understand the impact that can have on family life. I do hope that your creativity helps bring you joy – I find knitting and crochet are my form of meditation! / August 12, 2016I really like the pyjamas and couldn’t bring myself to throw them out, so it was nice to be inspired to do something with at least a part of the fabric. I think I shall make some more bags with other parts as it’s quick and easy, and a lovely way to present sales/gifts. I was even more inspired with the draw-cord – it’s a length of fabric from a broken umbrella!

Your hedgehogs are absolute winners – my two are constantly picked up and examined by visitors and then rescued before a very interested Siddy can claim them ….. Love the blue snail with the cream shell – that would be my pick, though the pair are very striking together too. And those aardvarks are so full of personality! You are turning into a yarny zoologist 🙂

It’s ironic you used eyelash yarn – that’s what I used for the Librarian – and I got as far as completing the head, and just couldn’t cope with using it any more, so I turned it into a keyfob, which Brex adores! Lol
Remind me next time you call, to sort out the eyelash yarn I’ve got, so that you to take it home to be used? 🙂

/ August 13, 2016The hedgies are ok because actually only a small simple dome is done with eyelash yarn… all the fiddly bits are in normal yarn… I can’t imagine trying to work anything bigger or more complex n the hairy stuff!
