As usual I’m joining with Emily of Nerd in the Brain (and others) for Three Things Thursday’. As she says…
*three things that make me smile: an exercise in gratitude – feel free to steal this idea with wild abandon and fill your blog with the happy*
First, baking cake. Today it’s a lime drizzle cake. A joy to make and to eat… do call in for a slice if you are passing later, but don’t leave it too long!

Ready, set, bake…
Second, chillies. This morning Mr Snail picked another 17 chillies from our two lemon drop plants… they are so beautiful and very tasty (if you like that sort of thing).

Lovely lemon drop
Third, mint. I love our apple mint both for its culinary uses and for the abundance of bees, butterflies and hoverflies that visit the flowers.
So that’s it for this week. What are you feeling grateful for?

/ September 15, 2016My entire backyard hill leading to the huge field is covered with mint. It’s especially awesome when the breeze comes from that direction and the house is filled with fresh mint scent. It’s especially good in Mojito’s 😀

/ September 15, 2016Isn’t lemon drop chili a contradiction in terms? 🙂 Right now I’m very grateful for chipmunks scurrying outside my back door as they get ready for winter. One even stopped and looked in for a couple seconds.

/ September 16, 2016It’s an important one for shade at the back of the house, but normally grows like a weed, so I was very startled when it dropped all its leaves in the cooler weather, something it hasn’t done before.

/ September 15, 2016Cake will always bring a smile! I’m grateful for the rain we have had, although now we have enough (and in some areas of Victoria way too much!) and it needs to stop. I’m also grateful that I have a clean, mouse-free pantry.

/ September 16, 2016Mouse-free is good. We have recently had a rat in the garden shed and it was a relief finally when the trap finally deal with it yesterday (although I hate killing things really).
