Three Things Thursday: 6 October 2016

As usual I’m joining with Emily of Nerd in the Brain (and others) for Three Things Thursday’. As she says…

*three things that make me smile: an exercise in gratitude – feel free to steal this idea with wild abandon and fill your blog with the happy*

First, we are enjoying sunny weather here at the moment. Although the temperatures are distinctly autumnal (7°C when I got up this morning), it’s still lovely to sit in the limery and see blue skies.

Second, anticipation. Mr Snail has gone off to Ludlow today and should be returning home on Monday laden down with cooking apples. I know that in a couple of week’s time I will probably be bemoaning the fact that I’m still processing the things, right now I’m very excited about the prospect of them arriving. Here are a few pictures of past apple seasons…

Third, the return of my monthly lunch-date with some of my permaculture friends. Tomorrow we are planning a blind apple-tasting (I am taking some Ashmead’s Kernel) and a good catch-up since we haven’t got together for several months. This afternoon I have baked gluten-free Parisian gingerbread to take… let’s hope it tastes good – it’s the first time I’ve tried the recipe.

So, those are three things making me smile this week – what about you?

  1. I’m more than willing to PayPal you for some of the output from the apple processing effort 🙂 I love homemade stuff. My wife is super into the gluten-free thing, can you share the recipe for the Gingerbread?

  2. Today I taught a man to waltz, made an apple crumble and arranged to join a poetry group through U3A. Happy days. Enjoy your apple bonanza and lunch.

  3. Yesterday morning I walked with Siddy in the rain and in the afternoon I planted up my spring time entrance way in warm sunshine; Later I finished painting a ‘first try’ lay out of a friend on her motor bike ………. That is what I call a good day! Happy apple processing!

  4. Love your three things. Things that have made me happy this week have been finally getting some agency work, my little boy being so excited about learning to read and managing to stick to my diet even when I’ve got a cold.

  5. I’m grateful for 4 days when the Husband doesn’t have to go to work so we can enjoy ourselves. I’m grateful to have finished the Grey Nomad quilt, and I’m grateful that we’re going on holiday in 2 weeks (except, of course, that means I have to finish painting the trailer and the wind just will not drop. Still, it does keep the temperature pleasant!).

  6. I look forward to this post every week. That gingerbread looks delicious. I hope, once tasted, you were happy with the results.

I’m grateful for the warm kitty at my hip, for the time to take a crafting class with my sister over the weekend and for the incredible blogging community that lifts me up and educates me every day.
