Three Things Thursday: 3 November 2016

Now I know that I don’t usually post twice in a day, but earlier I really wanted to tell you about the starlings, but since it’s Thursday and time for gratitude, here is my second offering today.

As usual I’m joining with Emily of Ms Emily’s Home for Full-Grown Nerds (note her new blog) and others for Three Things Thursday. As she says…

*three things that make me smile: an exercise in gratitude – feel free to steal this idea with wild abandon and fill your blog with the happy*

First, I’ve finished my first blanket for the Sixty Million Trebles project. When I’ve made a few more I will have a fine excuse to go and visit Danielle at The Make It Shop in Manchester because she is acting as one of the collection points. One particularly great thing about this blanket is that I made it entirely from yarn given to me by Itwasjudith over on the blog Wee Story Book, so my gratitude goes to her too.

Second, I was given some glorious red crab apples the other day – these are going to brighten up the apple juice I’m making.

honestly, these are crab apples, not cherries

Third, beautiful mornings. I am trying to remember to take my camera with me when I go swimming so that I can photograph the view from the car park in the early morning light when I leave (it’s dark when I arrive). This one was taken on Monday:

So, those are three things making me smile this week – what about you?

  1. I need to get a new phone so that I can take better pictures. I’ve missed so many sunsets/sunrises/oddities the last several months.

  4. I’m grateful for a huge, wild thunderstorm last night, which kept us awake but gave the garden a good drenching. I’m grateful that my elbow wasn’t broken, just badly bruised, in a fall last week. I’m grateful for the luxury of time to work on my creative life….

  6. I’m glad the yarn could be useful 🙂 The blanket is pretty and rather striking, in a nice way.
Is it difficult to make apple juice? I guess one would need some juice extractor or machinery of some sort.
Early mornings have a quite magical atmosphere to them… it feels so peaceful and almost unreal. If only I could crawl out of bed earlier (I’m not a morning person).
Have a great rest of the week!

    • I bought a steam juice extractor – a Finnish invention – it’s brilliant. It produces pasteurised juice which should last for ages.
The yarn is going to make several blankets, plus I used some of it in the crochet class I taught on Sunday, so thank you very very much!
