Three Things Thursday: 26 January 2017

Inspired by Emily of Nerd in the Brain (note her new self-hosted web site) here are my Three Things Thursday. As she says…

*three things that make me smile: an exercise in gratitude – feel free to steal this idea with wild abandon and fill your blog with the happy*

First – a silly film. My friend Derrick, who lives in California sent me a link to this and it certainly made me smile when I watched it this morning:

Second, a yarn selection box. One of the ladies in the 60 Million Trebles group put out a request for 4-ply sock yarn (especially the self-patterning variety). She asked if people could send her just 10g of yarn for a special charity blanket she’s involved in making. Having knitted so many pairs of socks over the years, I have loads of odds and ends. So I got out my tiny digital scales and had fun putting together this collection of sixteen different yarns:

a colourful collection

Third, the start of the gardening year. I’m still holding on for a few days before I plant my first seeds, but I have got three varieties of potato chitting (sprouting) in the limery:

and so it begins…

So, those are 3 things making me smile this week – what about you?

Love the snail film! it’s bonkers & just the thing for a chilly Thursday. We have spuds chitting too – and have baby peppers in the lounge. Sown in December.

    • December is very early… I try to wait until the end of January so they are not needing warm conditions too soon! I do have all least year’s pepper and chilli plants still alive, though – they are just green sticks at the moment, but I am hoping that some of them will flourish for a second year.

  2. My three things are a big pot of ham stock, a container of home grown mango chunks and a baby custard apple that’s hanging on for grim death to its weeny parent tree. I will EAT you one day, baby custard apple, see if I don’t 😉

  3. The snail parody was awesome! It’s what I needed for a gloomy Thursday here on the east coast of the US.

LOVE the snail video! Snails are my favorite animal…I collect snail statues, stuffed animals, etc. plus had pet ones at one point.

Just found your blog last night and really enjoy it. Do you have a pattern for the knit snails in your blog title bar photo?

I’m thinking I should start doing this. With all that’s going on in the U.S., it would be a restorative post.

  6. Hehehehe! The snail video made me giggle like a doofus. 😀

All that yarn looks dreamy…as do your potatoes. 🙂

Oh, I saw a thing earlier that made me think of you! Have you seen these?

    Have a beautiful week!

  7. That was a surprisingly catchy ditty 🙂 Do you know I still haven’t planted a garden this ‘summer’ – which has given me more time in the art room 🙂

  8. I loved the snail video and the music was just so happy. I had lunch out with a friend today who also took me for a quick trip through the grocery so I could get a few things. I managed to get a gift for this friend finished in time for our “Christmas” lunch today. 🙂 Nothing like the last minute.

  10. I really look forward to these posts! That video is cleverly done, eh? What a fun find from your friend, Derek. I love that you’ve sent off all those beautiful yarns to someone making a blanket for charity. I’m afraid that I cringed through much of this week, and found myself ducking the news. I’m sure I smiled at something…let me get back to you.
