Emily of Nerd in the Brain originally created Three Things Thursday, but it’s now being hosted by Natalie of There She Goes. Anyway, here are my three things this week…
First, letter-writing. I mentioned in my recent post Small Calm Things, that I had made a start on some letter-writing and over the past few days I’ve written quite a few. Sitting in the limery as the rain hammers down in our British summer, it’s rather nice to put pen to paper and know that I will be raising some smiles as a result of my efforts.
Second, new inks. I have a project in mind that involves alcohol inks in muted colours. Until now I only had bright colours, but this morning’s post brought me the earth tones I need, so I’m now all set for getting arty.

Third, pitchers. The pitcher plants and the monkey cup in the limery are growing like mad and it does make me very happy to see them doing their job and looking so fabulous.

Mine today: (1) we’ve just had a lot of rain in Cape Town, (2) we’re about to have some more tomorrow, (3) and again a lot more next week 🙂 I’ll just focus on the rain right now!

Three things… hmm. OK: I’ve finished quilting the blocks on my latest quilt so it’s time for the next stage; cold (for the tropics) nights so I sleep very well for a change; a new external DVD reader for my laptop so I can listen to audiobooks while I work.

/ June 8, 2017Yes please – it would be lovely to see your creations. I had my first go a soil-themed doodle this afternoon complete with mini-beasts. It ended up a bit smudgy, but I’m quite pleased with the result.

/ June 8, 2017How exciting! Oh smudging! Yes, you do have to be careful when doodling. You can heat dry your doodling marks with a hair dryer as long as you are careful with not getting the heat too close to the plastic paper. I learnt to work from the centre out 🙂

/ June 11, 2017I am also impressed with the lushness of the plants. They must be gobbling up the flies! My three things? 1. Lying in bed in the afternoon (something I rarely do!) 2. Productive bounty from friends’ gardens, including apples, walnuts and four bags of autumn leaves to use as mulch. 3. Lunch with two very dear friends.

/ June 13, 2017I’m not very good with the Venus fly traps, although I do have two. I recommend getting some pitcher plants – they are much more hardy and are absolutely fascinating.
