Working Wednesday #4

This is my weekly post as I work through the yarn in my “collection” (not stash – thank you Sue) . This is the current state of play with the projects I’ve worked on this week:

  • Golden spikes jumper: completed. But the unseasonably warm weather means it’s too warm to wear it yet! I’m a little unsure about the rather tight sleeves, but until it has been worn for a while, I won’t know whether I need to make some adjustments (i.e. knit new, wider sleeves).
  • The 4-ply Skeleton hat: completed. Pattern needs to be typed up.
  • Honeycomb cables socks: completed (and on my feet). An interesting project, but not one I will be repeating.
  • A snailvaark is underway. This is a gift that I have been intending to make for a few weeks. I’ve done the knitting for the shell, but it needs grafting. The body is not yet started.
  • I’ve been asked to make a turtle, but apart from finding a suitable pattern, I haven’t actually started on it yet.

Next week: a different colour?

So that’s my progress this week. Have you completed any projects? Are you working on anything interesting?

  1. Lots of lovely projects here, I especially love the skeleton. I am crocheting a blanket!

  2. Wow! You are so productive Mrs Snail! I’m still completely obsessed with the Mandala Madness in Scheepjes Bonbon I’m making – it has taken over my life and nothing else is getting done!

  3. Our mutual friend Rose brought a lovely unusual jumper back from Brazil. I borrowed it to work out the pattern and after various false starts, unpickings and reworkings I now have all the pieces. I hate sewing knitting together! Hopefully it will fit.

Beautiful work, and that skeleton hat is so much fun. As for the color…right up my alley. 😉

  5. Your yarn palette does look a little blue at the moment! Looking forward to seeing the turtle. Will it be crocheted or knitted?

Working on the forest garden design, and have spent the last few days absorbing Tomas’s book. It’s given me a real way forward, and identified many areas where I would probably have gone wrong. I’ve now also read Perennial veg (Martin C) and have 3 more books to refer to. But the design is coming together nicely.

        • Yay – I read quite a lot of Tomas’ book pre-publication, so haven’t actually settled down with it since it arrived… maybe over the winter.

It’s a girl! Yay! Born this morning. Mum & baby are doing well. 8lbs 12oz! Poor mum! But you don’t have to make it pink, they aren’t into pink for girls & blue for boys, it is what ever colour it is. No rush – probably wont see them for a few weeks yet. XX

  7. Oooh, a blue turtle sounds just the thing…. and I’d love to see a blue snailvaark too 🙂 Your blue socks are just yummy!! This is quite an impressive output! I’ve resorted all my templates and embossing folders (again) this week 🙂

  8. Blue week has concluded nicely, bring on the….? Purple? I do love those socks, but as you know, Skelecap is my favourite. I’ve been making curtains for Miz Lizzie, but am only halfway through the task; too many other things to do before our trip 😦

  9. Well done for finishing so many of your projects – I seem to be collecting them as each day goes by! Lol
Ironically, I’ve just signed up to do an Ami-along – with the pattern being Turtles (although they are cute anthropomorphised turtles, as opposed to the real thing!) 🙂
