Working Wednesday #5

This is my weekly post as I work through the yarn in my “collection” (not stash – thank you Sue) . It’s been a busy week, so there hasn’t been as much knitting and crochet as usual. There have been only two projects this week. The first I can’t show you because it is a surprise gift that has not arrived at its destination yet, and the second is a turtle… currently very much a work in progress:

Just one flipper to go

Both of this week’s projects used yarn that I already owned, so the collection is very slowly getting smaller. The turtle is worked in Cambrian Mountains Wool and is beautifully soft – I plan to fill it with 100% wool stuffing so that it will be made entirely from natural fibres.

So, that’s my progress this week. Have you completed any projects? Are you working on anything interesting?

  1. The worst thing about committing to a certain output is that life has a horrible habit of getting in the way! I’ve had no chance to do anything creative for the past 5 days, but I’m still managing to have fun with big motorbikes and old friends ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. That is a mighty fine turtle. I hope he has a name. I am working on a crochet blanket.

  3. I have finished the jumper I have been making based on the one Rose brought back from brazil. I wore it to yoga last night – its first outing – and I love it. But I will be posting about it on my own blog so you will have to see it there – goingbattyinwales.wordpress.com.

  4. Fun turtle. I’m still in the grip of Mandala Madness – crochet used to be something I fitted in around life, this project has turned those tables completely!

    • The turtle is going to a baby – it’s unusual to be able to use wool for a baby, most people insist on acrylic, but the recipient is happy to have wool and I’m delighted.

  6. Looking forward to seeing the turtle complete. I love turtles for some reason. Slow and steady maybe. Thanks for the reminder that I forgot to take pictures of the squares I made for this months charity quilt. Hand embroidery going slow and not much else being completed. You inspire me to push a little harder.

Awwwwwww! Turtle is gorgeous! A big big thank you. I’m amazed how quickly you are making him (was expecting a waiting list), and am truly grateful. I’m sure little Elizabeth will love him. Now whether she (as in the baby) is called Elizabeth, or Turtle, remains to be seen. She has already been made a member of our reenactment group! Much love. XXX

    • No problem – the snailvaark was made over the weekend, so I thought I’d just get on with this straight away… next on the list is a breast prosthesis (better not get them muddled up!)

  8. A turtle now – no end to your talents! I’m beginning to think you can create any animal – or animal combo- required. I have started work on my spring garden. Only a month late ๐Ÿ™‚

Even in pieces, I can see it’s going to be your usual excellent work.
I’ve still got around five projects on the go at once – I started a new one today, despite knowing I’ve got too many on the go already, but I just haven’t been able to resist any of them since I got my CroJo back ๐Ÿ™‚
I hope you’ll post a pic of your finished Turtle?
