Sneeze-along

I had plans for this weekend – some clearing up in the garden, cleaning the interior of the limery and general outdoor sorting out. However, Saturday morning dawned with my nose running like a small stream and frequent fits of sneezing. Plus, outdoors it was raining.

So Mr Snail lit the fire and made me frequent cups of tea and I snuggled up on the sofa with a crochet hook, a box of wool and a pattern. You may remember some months ago I mentioned my plans to make a Sophie’s Universe blanket out of 100% British wool. At the time, I shared this preliminary picture:

all set to go

I had made a little start on the project on Friday night, so I began with this on Saturday morning:

By Saturday afternoon, I’d drunk a lot of tea and got this far…

progress

It was too dark to photograph my work when I went to bed, but before the light fades today, this is the current state of play:

part 3 completed

So, the garden may still be awaiting my attention, but I’m not so sneezy and I have had a very creative weekend.

The wool is a combination of Cambrian Mountains Wool, WoolyKnit Blue faced Leicester and West Yorkshire Spinners Bluefaced Leicester (yes Woolyknit write it as two words and WYS as one).

Such creativity when you are all sneezy. Well done Mr SoH for looking after you and you for starting on what looks like a beautiful blanket. Today saw the completion of a bit of crazy paving that we’ve been meaning to do for ages. Yes, I will photograph it when dry and write a bit about it, and I know I still owe you a bit about the Peach House. How many words is a good size? Incl photos I assume? Get well soon, and enjoy your book when it arrives. XXX

It looks beautiful, just your colours. I’m really going to enjoy watching your progress. I expect you know there is a Sophie’s Universe group on FB. I belong, I love seeing how different colours make the pattern look. Do hope the sneezles are retreating swiftly.

I bought my Sophie book ages ago, and still haven’t made a start on it, so it’ll be nice to see your one progressing, while I procrastinate 🙂

Glad to hear you are feeling better. The blanket looks great and the garden will still be there next weekend.

  8. Your colour choices have not suffered due to having a cold – it is already looking most attractive! I’ve always wanted to make one of these things – have I said that before I wonder 🙂 Maybe you will inspire me to finally commit.

  12. That’s lovely, like a deep purple pansy with white bits. OK, not very eloquent, but you get the idea. Poor Snail, I hope you’ll be feeling better very soon, but at least you put the sneezy downtime to good use.
