This is my weekly post as I work through the yarn in my “collection” (not stash – thank you Sue). In fact this week it mostly isn’t ‘stash’ because nearly all the wool that I worked with was bought relatively recently and for specific projects. Nevertheless, it’s nice to see wool from my store (however long it’s been there) becoming “things”.
I completed Mr Snail’s wellie socks and they have been inspected and approved by Sam. There’s enough yarn left over to make a matching hat, which I’ll get round to in due course…
I also make a quick pair of fingerless mittens (mentioned in last week’s Three Things Thursday), which I still haven’t delivered to the intended recipient.
I shared much of the work on “Sophie” on Sunday, but I have done more since then, when she was a circle. The corner flowers turned out to be rather complicated, with the work layered so that sometimes you work in front of previous stitches and sometimes behind. As a result, progress has been quite slow. The back (first and third pictures) is quite tidy, but gives an idea of the complexity.
It’s entirely possible that the whole month of November is going to be about Sophie, but I do have another knitted breast prosthesis to make and a pair of socks to finish, so there may be a little variety.
So, that’s my progress this week… and there was no blue in it! Have you completed any projects? Are you working on anything interesting?

/ November 8, 2017You have made good progress here, and Sophie is looking magnificent already. I am ‘waiting’ to start a pair of slippers. I have no idea what I am waiting for as I have all the materials and the pattern, there just seems to be a bit of a hurdle in actually starting them! Hopefully today….

Possibly because I knew I was going to have to concentrate on the pattern and I was feeling lazy! Now I’ve got going with it I’m really enjoying it. What colours have you chosen for your Sophie? I really enjoyed selecting the palette ad am loving how it’s coming out.

/ November 8, 2017Mr Snail does now have a very handsome pair of boot socks, so much cosier looking in red than a more boring neutral colour. Your Sophie is in such a lovely colour combination: blackberries and cream! I’ve started a new needlepoint project for the SAL, and I’m finding it quite addictive.

/ November 8, 2017Looking forward to seeing your stitching. I have to confess that I could happily sit and crochet all day, but I have to earn a crust, so I can’t.
I’m rather pleased with how the red socks turned out – it just happened to be the only suitable yarn that I had and I’m not sure that I would have bought it for socks (the first ball was bought to make a Welsh dragon) but I’m chuffed that they ended up looking so good.

/ November 8, 2017All the above…. I’m nearly finished painting (cresting) a set of clout arrows for a customer, with a target set just beginning. Not stuck the fletchings (feathers) on yet as I plan to use her jig and I don’t have it here. The crazy paving in the garden is complete, will take a photo when it is dry. We are very pleased with it. And the memory book moves a step closer, our book binding friend is coming this weekend! Yay!

/ November 10, 2017You should make a start… I’m loving doing it – so different from the projects I’m used to. I really recommend buying good quality wool, though (not acrylic) as there’s so much work in it, it would be a shame to make a Sophie that didn’t last.
