1001

One thousand and one – That’s now many stories Scheherazade told and, with this post, that’s how many I have told you. Do you think they have been interesting enough for Shahryār to keep me alive?

I’m not sure whether Scheherazade kept telling her tales after the 1001, but I plan to, although I’m having a bit of a think about how I want to go forward with my blogging. There are going to be changes in the new year, but more on that next month.cheers

For now, it’s time to have a celebration… and I have a plan. I’d love to invite you all round for some fizz and home made cheese, but sadly we can’t all fit in the limery and I’m sure getting a date when everyone was free would be just impossible… although I still have 3.7kg of cheese to eat! So instead I’ve decided to do a give away. I spent ages racking my brain about what to offer you lovely readers, but I simply couldn’t think of something that everyone would want. So, here’s the deal… leave a comment on this post (or on my Facebook page or Twitter account) by midnight GMT on Friday 1 December 2017, telling me something that will make me smile, and I’ll enter you into my draw. I will pick two people at random and send each a gift I think they would like. Many of you I know reasonably well from your comments or blogs and so you have a chance of getting something tailored to you; if I don’t know much about you, you’ll get something I think will bring a smile to your face.     For sure I think we will keep you alive, just glad we didn’t have to dress for the part! I really enjoyed the 1001 tales, but for the life of me can’t recall any, it was a very long time ago. Meantime congrats on writing so many posts, but time for that book. I am now imaging that yummy cheese.

    Well this is all very exciting – and a new direction to your blog? Intriguing – though I so often find your posts thought provoking, informative, or both together and I do hope you won’t lose that aspect. I do love the idea of all your readers squeezing into the Limery for fizz and cheese and crackers served by Jon dressed as Santa or Father Time or the Winter King or whatever notable and apt seasonal figure takes his fancy……… I’d come!!

    1001 is such an achievement. I have never read the Arabian nights (shame on me) so my first point of reference was 1001 shampoo and carpet cleaner! Then I thought of all the 1001 things to do before you die books. So, based on both of these, can I suggest a new strap-line for your blog? 1001 ways to clean the planet, before we all die.

    I hope it makes you smile to realise that as well as entertaining us all with tales of chooks, dogs, cheese, gardens, knitting, crochet, permaculture blankets and gratitude, you’ve made a serious number of people more aware of their responsibility to the planet, showing them how in a small but important way they can do more to care for her and stop assuming that it’s all hopeless and nothing they can do will help. Bringing hope, action and a sense of purpose is a very big thing, Dr Snail, and should bring you lots of Happiness 🙂

        I can only drink decaf, so I’ve not joined the club. I’m just buying ad hoc but sounds like I am missing out on some delightful flavours.

        Years and years ago, I bought a wonderful Kenyan coffee from Marks and Spencer. Never managed to find it again but should I ever need some coffee with the caffeine in, I could try the Kenyan Blue Mountain!

    I am thinking that if you were to buy three sheep (they like company), they would keep your lawn mown; you could use the milk for lovely cheese; you would have a never-ending supply of fleece and they would soothe your soul with their musical voices. You might even be inspired to write a children’s book of nursery rhymes featuring them as characters. You could dye them for fun for April Fool’s Day (with non-toxic dyes, of course and only if they are white sheep) and you’d have a perfect excuse to acquire a lovely Collie dog, not that one needs an excuse for that! Oh . . . yes . . . they supply organic fertilizer, too. And you wouldn’t have tine to be bored, ever . . .

    Congratulations on the 1001 stories; I’m in serious awe of that! I haven’t had time to read all of them, but I do go back from time to time and read a couple. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with this venue in the coming year.
