Today is the day!
The grand reveal!
No, not what’s in your parcels…
… but what Sophie looks like now she’s done.
First there was the construction of the blocking mat:
And then a lot of pinning and finagling, which was not photographed as it required lots of concentration.
Now she’s stretched out and slightly damp:
What do you think? Was she worth the effort?

/ December 25, 2017Today is the first time I’ve seen her spread out properly, and I’m very pleased with how the colours turned out. The density and the fact that she’s made of 100% wool mean she’s a very warm blanket.

/ December 26, 2017Well, at the moment, she’s artfully draped over a chair since, being 100% wool, she blocked in no time. I think she’s going to be my sofa blankie because she’s so warm.

She will be SO wonderful to snuggle under and the colours do look lovely, soft and sophisticated – a very classy Sophie indeed!

/ December 29, 2017Sophie is gorgeous. My goodness, though, what a lot of work. I love the intricate patterns and the color scheme. It sounds like one of those “I’m glad I did it, but I won’t do it again” projects. Did you learn a lot as you went along?

/ January 5, 2018She’s even more fabby finished! I do love the strip with butterflies. I can’t imagine that’s all basic stitches, did you learn some fancy new ones?

/ January 5, 2018Actually, the stitches are mostly quite straightforward – there was only one instance where I had to look up the video tutorial. The book has detailed explanations of almost everything, along with lots of pictures. Actually, this was one of the things I found irritating about doing it – the pattern sometimes got lost in all the explanation, leading to a couple of pages of the book being required to describe a single round in some cases. That’s probably me being pernickety… overall, it’s a good pattern and not impossible for someone with only a bit of crochet experience.
