Bedding down

The woolly dog bed is complete. The pad was made entirely from an old dog bed and the yarn is 100% British wool out of my stash.

The edge includes a separate crocheted section that can be unravelled so the pad can be taken out to allow it to be washed separately from the cover. This was done to avoid the use of buttons, poppers or a zip, all of which might have been rather tempting to chew and then swallow.

I am rather pleased with it and Daisy and Sam seem to be happy too.

  3. It looks like a pillow thrown on the floor. And Sam looks almost smug in the one picture! I bet they’re very excited to have it to lie on. Our dogs were always pleased with new bedding.

  9. I think I’d be pretty delighted with a dog bed like that, too! It’s pretty, it’s cosy, it’s sustainable and thought and care has gone into it. Perfect!

  10. Well done – what a good idea to make a crochet seam closing!

    • I dithered about how to close it, especially because Sam does like to chew hard things, especially metal. In the end this seemed like the best option and easy enough to undo/rework when washing is required.
