Growing and groaning

The saga of the tooth continues – the first part of the root canal work has been completed, but it has awoken the infection and so I’m back on antibiotics. Hopefully the stuff I’m taking now will have less of an adverse effect on me than the last lot. Anyway, I have a few weeks to wait before the procedure can continue. In the mean time I’m sitting here, moaning gently and watching my garden grow….

I’ve photographed the good bits and carefully avoided the jungle elsewhere!

Wow! They are doing well! Ours started off OK, but apart from the bush toms, most have ground to a halt. Not sure why, it isn’t lack of water & the compost should still be going strong. 😦

    • The beans have been very slow to get growing and the mange tout in the pot are doing much better than those in the ground. As always, the limery is doing the business! I seem to be having good success with wool compost – have you tried it?

  2. Oh dear – I think there is little else in the world worse than toothache and tooth infections! Except maybe childbirth – but at least at the end of that there is something to hold and love! I do hope your lovely array of things growing will be sufficient compensation for your continuous discomfort – think of how much joy eating those salad greens and peppers (and I think I spied corn, potatoes, beans?) will bring you when all is fixed 🙂 I’m so impressed that you are just moaning gently – it ought to be a song……

    • I just keep thinking how good it will be when my tooth is all sorted out.
Yes, you correctly identified all those things in the garden. The things in pots seem, in general to be doing better than the things in the soil… I think I may need to dig lots of compost in over the winter.

  3. Poor, poor Snail… What rotten luck, especially as it’s delaying further treatment. I hope the antibiotics do their job soon and you’re able to tuck into a nice crunchy salad.

  7. Toothache is horrid – so sorry you are suffering. Our greenhouse has strawberries (nearly over) courgettes (in full flow) and tomatoes (nearly ready). Thanks goodness for growing under glass.

    • I haven’t grown courgettes under glass before this year, but I will certainly be doing so in the future as it’s been lovely to have them so early.
Toothache is, indeed, horrid, so I’m really hoping that the new antibiotics don’t compound my discomfort like the previous ones did.

  8. I’m glad you have such natural beauty and bounty to distract you from your discomfort. Why is the root canal process dragging on for so long?

    • The problem is that they can’t seal the tooth until the infection is completely cleared… hopefully this week’s procedure combined with the antibiotics will finally sort out the pesky bacteria and then the tooth can finally be sorted out. I think there will be at least two more visits to the specialist dentist (and hour and half’s drive away) before I’m completely sorted.
