Sometimes, when you are feeling under the weather, the only thing to do is to snuggle up in a fluffy jumper (that’s a sweater to all you US readers) and snooze the day away. So, when Sam woke up this morning with what appears to be a pulled muscle in her neck (the result of sleeping precariously balanced on the small blanket box at the end of our bed, we think), the only thing to do was wrap her up and send her back to bed (a proper dog bed this time):
I am not, in fact, a great fan of dogs in clothes, but Sam does feel the cold and so a few years ago I did make her this mohair coat, which she wears to sleep in on cold nights. It appears to be just the job for a muscle strain too. Fingers crossed that this will mean a trip to the vets is not required.
Oh, and Max feels some company is required and is helping out by snoozing alongside:

/ August 25, 2015Sorry to hear that! Do they make puppy hot water bottles? Maybe a zip lock bag filled with hot water and wrapped in a wash cloth? Hope she’s feeling better soon.

/ August 25, 2015Poor Sam! 😦 A sick dog is a very sad thing indeed. I love her little coat and even though I am with you on not dressing dogs up (if I actually could choose to dress mine up they would remove said item of clothing post haste 😉 ) she looks like she appreciates that extra warmth. Sending out waftings of happy thoughts to Sam and hoping that she feels better soon.

/ August 25, 2015It’s not so much a clothe as a portable personal dog blanket, and I like the colour very much! If it’s doing some good you can’t object, although I’m with you on dog clothes except to protect against weather. I have to say, I’ve seen some extremely snazzy dog Driza-bones here…

/ August 25, 2015Oh poor Sam, I know how she feels! I put my back and neck out a couple of days ago hauling furniture – I felt like I needed a nice purple mohair coat to be wrapped up in too, but alas, no caring mumma for me 😦 A brisk walk eventually got me right – I’m sure Sam will be as good as new very soon. The photo of the two of them snoozing is so lovely! ❤ ❤

/ August 25, 2015I’m not a fan of dressing up dogs either, but I think a nice functional item of apparel is necessary sometimes….but definitely no tutus. I bought my dog a raincoat this winter, which as Kate suggested, is very snazzy. It’s designed for a working dog or in this case a dog who likes to run and jump, and so has gussets and pleats to allow freedom of movement. It’s more for me than her, so I don’t have to spend ages getting her dry after a walk in a downpour, she doesn’t care about getting wet. Hope your pup is back to her usual frisky self soon, a crick neck is a pain. Here’s an Aussie riddle since we’re talking jumpers……what do you get if you cross a kangaroo with a sheep……a woolly jumper. [sorry couldn’t resist 🙂 ]

/ August 26, 2015Avoiding having to dry a wet and muddy dog is, as far as I am concerned, a valid reason for a dog coat! Interestingly, Max will not move if you put any sort of coat on him… this even extends to a harness to clip his lead on… I think this is because he prefers to stay inside in the dry! Sam on the other hand is unfazed by coats or rain and is quite happy to shake water and mud all over the house on a return from any walk.
