My first Wovember project is completed. It took me about a week from start to finish for the Dreamcatcher top. So, without further ado, here it is:
It’s very easy to make and required loads less yarn than the pattern suggested (I used less than 50g of each of the ten colours).
This is brilliant for keeping the back and shoulders warm – I may not take it off for the rest of the winter! I plan to make another version by adding partial rounds after the point at which the pattern currently ends, which will make it egg-shaped and a bit longer at the back.
The free patten can be found here.

/ November 16, 2015My hands were never very good at such things. 😦 I have a friend who might do it. If she can follow the British instructions. 🙂

/ November 16, 2015Most folks who crochet are used to switching between US and UK terminology. I only learned to crochet about 4 years ago… it took me decades to learn, but once I got the hang of it, I was hooked (please excuse the pun).

/ November 16, 2015I did a shawl in a similar stitch that took about three days too. It’s one of my first posts… ^_^ I did it in a smaller wool that took months… months! That was a later post.

/ November 16, 2015It’s such a great idea – I have studied your photos and can see how easy it would be to make the circle bigger for a wider back and to add length if that is required too. One week you say mmmmmmm ………….. 🙂

/ November 16, 2015I followed the pattern exactly this time, but it would be so simple to play around with. On Ravelry there is a lovely version made with a self-patterning yarn and another in a single colour that looks much more classy. I think the possibilities are endless.

/ November 16, 2015I think it might be a little cosier and cover more of the back if the central circle was about half as wide again – but this does look amazing and is a wonderful use of all sorts of ends of yarn. And it was done so quickly, too!

/ November 16, 2015Yes – I think the designer was more focussed on ‘decorative’ than ‘functional’, but having got the basic idea now, I can do all sorts of things. Interestingly, I’m finding that it’s lovely and warm when leaning back into a chair (as I do when I’m working) whilst not getting in the way like many normal shawls, so it really is a winner even in its original form.

/ November 16, 2015I haven’t touched a crochet or knitting needle for years! I’ve got a spinning wheel here though and was always better at making the yarn than producing a wearable product.

/ November 18, 2015This pattern is genius! And a great way to use up awkward small amounts of stash yarn, too. It looks great, and I’m sure you’re getting good use out of it with the truly foul weather we’ve been having of late!
