We make a special space in our lives and our hearts for our pets, and when we lose them, we are left with a hole. Max was a huge part of our lives and his care was one of our major concerns during the last few months of his life so his departure left me very sad and empty. But, what kind friends I have… in very short order a parcel arrived all the way from Pauline (The Contented Crafter) in New Zealand, with a very special light-catcher made to commemorate Max’s life. There is even a little heart shaped frame in which I have placed a photo.
Isn’t it lovely? And, in combination with my other light catcher (made specially by Pauline for the limery) I have rainbows (which look lovelier in real life)
like the ones that Max left in my memory.
Daisy is doing a good job of making new rainbows in our life and she and Sam seem to be enjoying each other’s company.
What joy to give another unwanted dog a home… although I can’t for the life of me understand why she was taken back to the rescue. Perhaps it was the singing.

/ June 19, 2018Yes, I was finding life without Max really sad, but Daisy has brought a smile to my face. I know that you are not planning to get another dog because of your travelling, so I’m sure you will miss Liam every day. Perhaps one day, when the time is right, another dog will find you.

/ June 19, 2018The singing? Now I am intrigued, please do say more …… 😀 I love to see Max in his little frame. (And yes, that could be Siddy laughing up at you!) And it is so lovely to see Daisy out on her walk being busy and happy. And really great to see her snuggling with Sam for a snooze. It so makes our hearts glow doesn’t it! I’m so happy to see the catcher dangling and sending you sparkly reminders of your old pal. We can never have too many rainbows ❤

/ June 19, 2018Daisy has a range of vocalisations – from a squeak to a sort of woo-woo noise that sounds like she is trying to sing. All of them, however, seem to mean ‘give me a cuddle’! She is very keen to have attention, but settles quickly when I want to work on my computer or knit/crochet, so I don’t think it will be an issue… and anyway, she is lovely to cuddle.
Max’s picture is lovely in the little heart – a perfect way to remember such a special little dog.

/ June 20, 2018A dog that sings is a special treasure, and if she was taken back for that reason then it’s proof positive that her previous owners were bonkers. It’s a beautiful rainbow-maker memorial for Max. Every time the sun shines and the rainbow is created, you’ll remember him.

We used to have a singing dog. He was also a rescue but we got him as a puppy. He was the perfect dog in every other way but, when he got excited, getting out of the car at the woods for his walk for instance, he would make a really loud yodelling type of noise. He also did it when nervous – such as on visits to the vet – we had to keep him in the car until it was our turn otherwise he would disrupt the waiting room.

/ June 20, 2018What a Beautiful Gesture. I’ve been reading the poems about rainbow bridge and thinking of you. Rainbow bridge is where our pets go to be free from all ailments, to run free in meadows and woodland, to meet old and new friends. But at the end when the time is right we all meet again. There are some beautiful poems out there. However, I do worry that if when my time comes they are all going to jump into my arms again, I may need help. Losing a pet, be they dog, cat mouse, horse or goat, always leave a gap. In my case, that gap is helped by allowing space for the next animal to try and have a happier life as I can give them. I hope that in the memory of all those who have passed i achieve this. Much love and thoughts for you both. x
