As usual I’m joining with Emily of Nerd in the Brain (and others) for Three Things Thursday’. As she says…
*three things that make me smile: an exercise in gratitude – feel free to steal this idea with wild abandon and fill your blog with the happy*
First, breaking even. I’ve now got to the point where my year’s pass for the local swimming pool is paying off. Since the middle of January I have been swimming 59 times. This means that every time I go for the rest of the year is effectively free (in fact break-even was at 56).
Second, moths. I love moths and we’ve been enjoying visits from a variety of them in both the house and the garden. Mr Snail has taken some lovely photographs over the past couple of weeks, here are a few of them…
Third, generosity. I have received two large parcels of yarn from Gabriella, one of you lovely people who follow this blog. She was having a sort-out and asked me if I might be able to make use of some of her unwanted stash. I was completely bowled over by what arrived. Some of this will be used in my beginners crochet class in October, and I plan to make a blanket with some of it and other yarn in my stash to send to the marvellous charity Knit for Peace. There was even a knitted square in with the yarn that I shall use as the centre for the blanket.

Such kindness
So that’s it for this week. What are you feeling grateful for?

/ August 25, 2016Congratulations on the swimming. Getting a pass really seems to work well. I am still going weekly! What I am grateful for is that those moths are at yours and not here. I have a moth phobia, can’t stand them flying near me. Do your plants eat them?

/ August 25, 2016No, the plants leave the moths and butterflies alone… they mainly seem to attract flies, which is great. Moths are amazing creatures and get very bad press!
Glad to hear you have kept up your swimming too. I go twice a week, I am trying to persuade myself to go three times, but somehow that’s not happening yet…

/ August 25, 2016Thankful for… Health! My Partner has been signed off by the physio as ‘pretty much fixed’ and should be able to go back to work in a few weeks! Also food, my garden (what little I planted this year) is producing and I have some tomatoes and loads of little cucamelons, they all taste great. I have grand ideas for next years garden. Thirdly, it is payday! Bit shallow perhaps, but it means I can get the car working again!

/ August 25, 2016All good things… in fact I did consider ‘money’ as being one of the things to mention this week as it does allow me to do all sorts of lovely and/or useful things… not shallow at all!

/ August 25, 2016All that yarn! What a generous friend. And I love how you have a plan for using it already. It will be gone in no time! This week I am grateful to be able to celebrate my Mum’s 90th birthday 🙂 I feel so blessed that she has been a strong part of my life for so long.

/ August 26, 2016If you go locally, do they heat the pool yet?
I used to go regularly, but then kept getting cramps because they stopped heating the water 😦

/ August 26, 2016I love flying insects. They’re fascinating. I didn’t know moths were so beneficial. We don’t see many of them here. I used to. I’m trying not to think about why they are in decline. The yarn is gorgeous and so is the plan behind it. I love the generosity of fellow bloggers. Thanks for the happy start to my Friday.
